It's much easier to port CHDK on these cameras. Your camera is not listed? If there is work being done on a camera, there will be a development thread in the forum. You are welcome to provide testing feedback, to help us identify any major issues that might be present. If you have a good investment in lenses, it's really hard to change bodies later. Of course depending on the amount of information the camera absorbs that might change.

Hey pantern take a sustained Mbps, which would already make a huge difference. At least that's how I'll rationalize getting another camera. It's hard to find a one-thing that does it all perfectly. This program is free software: Your email address will not be published.
It is not supported, and there is no way for anyone to know maigc or when it might be supported. Now comes the GH2. It's an all free download, but of course if you're interested in the hard work Trammell has been doing for the DSLR video community, you can always drop a donation found on the Wikia page.
The hacked GH1 has a higher bitrate.
Randy - yeah different tools for different purposes. Everything works but how do you get access to bitrates options?
Magic Lantern as mandatory for geeks on Canon
This still might be a bit too high for the Canon 5D Mark II camera without over buffering, so a sustained 70Mbs in 24p looks to be more manageable. It's interesting that the OEM bitrate for the 5d is about 40mbps.
Or if only canon made a mirroless camera. If you want your camera done faster, please join the development efforts.

For instance manual audio levels and 24p in the Canon 5D Mark II came after these features were already unlocked with the Magic Lantern firmware. The GH2 has i hdmi out even when recording, has light speed autofocus, manual audio level controls with meters that stay on while recordingjust to name a few features. We are not responsible for any damages to your camera.
There are firmware dumpers available for most Canon EOS cameras see below. If you cannot find a firmware dumper, feel free to ask; just be aware this step won't magically bring a developer to work on it.
Your guess is as good as ours.
Anyway, just some of my thoughts as I weigh all the options. Start by reading the 0.19 forum, the wikiand the source code. If there is work being done on a camera, there will be a development thread in the forum. A port of a new camera model happens if and only if there is a developer who has the camera and sufficient time, motivation and skill to complete lanetrn port. Most of these builds are tested, to a limited extent, in QEMU. If there is no mention of development activity on the forum, there is no reason to ask about that camera's status: So you are basically trying to convince use that the camera is capable of Mbps bandwidth, which is probably not Barry Green's comments about this are right on -- and lwntern safe to say he is the Panasonic expert at dvxuser.

This doesn't mean that it's entirely safe although i've never heard of any problems using it. My lnatern thought on the GH2 was it looks like a great camera.
The existence of a ROM dumper proves we are able to execute code on the camera, and enables anyone with the right skills to start looking into it.
There's only a few cameras supported at this time, and only so many features are 'unlocked' for each one. I believe, though, that Canon and Panasonic use two different codecs.
But then when I compare it to the 60d, the 60d seems more substantial.
